Cold Weather Advisory issued January 18 at 3:26AM CST until January 20 at 9:00AM CST by NWS New Orleans LA

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills expected this week. Southwest Mississippi and adjacent Louisiana Parishes should see wind chills 10 to 15 degrees. The I-10/12 corridors and points south can expect wind chills 15 to 25 degrees. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi. * WHEN...For the first Cold Weather Advisory, from 6 PM Sunday to 9 AM CST Monday. For the second Cold Weather Advisory, from 6 PM Monday to 6 PM CST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Hard freeze conditions are forecast for areas along and north if the I-12 corridor as well as southwest and coastal Mississippi. In addition, very cold temperatures and wind chills can lead to hypothermia if proper clothing is not worn.

Winter Storm Watch issued January 18 at 3:03AM CST until January 22 at 12:00AM CST by NWS New Orleans LA

* WHAT...Heavy snowfall possible over the northern half of the area and heavy mixed precipitation possible over the southern half of the area. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches along and north of the Interstate 10/12 corridor and 2 to 6 inches south of this line. Ice accumulations less than 1/4 inch north and around a 1/4 inch south possible. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi. * WHEN...From late Monday night through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Hazardous driving conditions may last into or through Wednesday as well since all of the wintry precipitation that falls Tuesday may not melt through the day Wednesday. If this begins to look likely, winter weather headlines could be extended into or through Wednesday.
